Active Implants Corporation Announces Funding Milestone
and Creation Board and Management Team

Active Implants Corporation (AIC), an early intervention orthopedic company, today announced it has raised $4 million in initial funding and has established an experienced executive management team and Board of Directors.

Active Implants Corporation has a strong and extensive IP portfolio, and is focusing its resources on developing minimal invasive, earlier in life implant solutions that do not exist today. “Through the use of pliable-structured materials and innovative designs, AIC plans to introduce a new generation of resilient implants for the joints and spine,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Bradshaw, a former Dow Corning and Becton Dickenson executive. “The introduction of our products is expected to create a new, earlier in life implant option for patients who are not being served successfully today.”

The company’s first products are expected to enter clinical trails later this year. A seasoned team of orthopedic professionals will lead the Memphis-based company.

Amiram Steinberg is a founder, Chairman of the Board and key inventor behind the robust intellectual property estate owned by AIC. Also a founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Bradshaw has more than 25 years’ experience in orthopedics and the healthcare industry. Lawrence S. Kluge is a founder and the company’s Chief Operating Officer. Kluge previously founded the LifeCare Corporation and served as U.S. President of AlloPro AG. Howard D. Fox is a founder and Executive Vice President of AIC. Fox as an Advance Biopharmaceuticals executive and principal owner of S.L.S. Sales Consultants. Dennis Long is Chief Financial Officer, a former executive at Dow Corning Wright and Scienco. Noam Weissberg is Vice President of Development and Engineering and the Managing Director of the AIC-Israel subsidiary. Weissberg has 25 years experience in the aerospace and orthopedic medical devices industries.

In addition to Steinberg and Bradshaw, the Board of Directors includes Michael M. Lewis, MD, Jack R. Blair, Robert T. Rylee, James D. Lackie, and Hadar Steinberg. Dr. Lewis is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Priority Healthcare Corporation and former Chairman of Orthopedics and Chief of Staff at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Blair is formerly Group President – North America and main board director for Smith  Nephew plc and is currently Chairman of DJ Orthopaedics. Hadar Steinberg is a physicist working on condensed matter physics at the Weizman Institute. Rylee is the past owner and President of Wright Manufacturing Company and corporate VP and chairman of Dow Corning’s Health Care Businesses. Lackie is President of a commodities trading firm based in Memphis, Lackie Trading Inc.
